What Is Taught In Algebra II?
Algebra II (often called, Advanced Algebra) is typically taken during the junior of high school after Geometry, but some schools put it before Geometry as a sophomore class following Algebra I.
Algebra II builds on the trigonometry of right triangles that was first introduced in Geometry to learn about the radian measure, trigonometric functions and their periodicity. Complex numbers are introduced for the first time. Algebra II students spend time studying inverse functions and learn about the logarithmic function as being the inverse function to the exponential function. Probability and statistics are also a focus of study in Algebra II. Students learn about margin of error and significance in statistical studies of a population. Geometry is taken up by way of studying circles, ellipses, parabolas and hyperbolas known together as conic sections.
“Our family is very pleased with the quality of instruction David provided for our daughter. David explained very complex concepts in a manner that helped her understand. Also, she learned the value of proper study skills in math through his work with her. Our daughter found her confidence again in math and now again enjoys it.”
